Minneapolis, MN – The Twin Cities will experience their warmest day of the week Tuesday before a major cooldown arrives later this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Twin Cities.
Forecasters say highs will reach the mid-50s under filtered sunshine today before gradually cooling through the week. Wednesday will stay mostly sunny with highs near 50°, but clouds will increase Thursday as a weak system brings a chance for light rain, mainly in western Wisconsin.
By Friday, highs are expected to drop into the upper 40s with partly cloudy skies. A stronger weekend system will usher in much colder air, with temperatures only in the 30s by Saturday and overnight lows falling into the 20s. The NWS notes a chance for a rain-and-snow mix on Saturday as the front moves through the region.
While no significant accumulation is expected at this time, forecasters are monitoring the system closely as it could signal the season’s first measurable wintry weather for parts of Minnesota.
