Minneapolis, Minnesota – Wildfire smoke hanging over western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota is expected to clear by early Tuesday afternoon, paving the way for one of the last comfortable summer days before heat and humidity ramp up across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, high temperatures will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s Tuesday under partly sunny skies. But beginning Wednesday, a warm, moisture-laden airmass will push in, sending temps into the upper 80s and low 90s, along with sticky dew points and a daily risk of thunderstorms through Saturday.
Scattered storms are likely Wednesday afternoon and evening, with another round possible Thursday, especially in southern and central Minnesota. Friday brings the hottest day of the week, with highs nearing 93°F and a chance for stronger storms late in the day that could impact evening plans or travel.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts. Flash flooding, gusty winds, and lightning remain the primary threats.
Storm chances linger into the weekend, with additional advisories possible as the pattern evolves.
