Minneapolis, Minn. – After several days of intense summer heat, much of Minnesota will finally catch a break beginning Tuesday as cooler air and gusty northwest winds move into the region. The change will bring more comfortable temperatures, although dry conditions are expected to continue through the end of the workweek.
According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, heat headlines will expire Monday evening as a cold front pushes through the state. High temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to top out in the upper 70s, with overnight lows dipping into the 50s, offering a noticeable change from the recent stretch of hot, humid weather.
Tuesday will also be breezy, with northwest winds increasing to 25 to 30 mph at times. While the cooler temperatures will make outdoor activities more comfortable, the combination of dry conditions and gusty winds could lead to elevated fire weather concerns in some locations.
Communities across the Twin Cities metro, including Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove and surrounding areas, can expect mostly sunny skies through much of the week. Temperatures will gradually rebound into the lower to middle 80s on Thursday and Friday, but humidity levels are expected to remain lower than they were over the weekend.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the cooler weather while continuing to conserve water where needed, as little to no widespread rainfall is expected through Friday.
