Minneapolis, MN – The National Weather Service Twin Cities is warning of a rough day outdoors Tuesday, with scattered rain showers, strong northwest winds gusting up to 45 mph, and wind chills dropping into the 30s across much of central and southern Minnesota.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for large portions of the state, including the Twin Cities metro, Mankato, and St. Cloud areas. Forecasters say the strongest winds will occur through the afternoon, making for difficult travel and uncomfortable outdoor conditions.

According to the NWS, sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph—with gusts nearing 45 mph—will make it feel much colder than actual air temperatures, which are expected to reach only the low to mid-40s. Rain showers will move across the region through the day, tapering off by evening.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, use caution when driving high-profile vehicles, and be prepared for reduced visibility in heavier showers. Conditions will gradually improve by midweek as skies clear and winds ease.
