MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Showers and thunderstorms are sliding across Minnesota Friday morning, creating slick roads and brief downpours before clearing by mid-afternoon. Drivers around the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota should expect reduced visibility from patchy fog early, followed by scattered showers that may impact the late morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, storms are tracking west to east and should exit the state by mid-afternoon Friday. Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s before cooler air moves in behind the system.
From Saturday through early next week, residents can expect a stretch of quiet, fall-like weather. Highs will settle into the mid-60s to near 70 degrees, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 40s and low 50s. The cool, dry air will bring comfortable conditions for outdoor events but may also mean chilly mornings, particularly in northern and central Minnesota.
Forecasters advise residents to watch for lingering wet roads Friday before conditions steadily improve. The cooler pattern is expected to last into midweek with gradually warming afternoons.
