Minneapolis, MN – Rain showers will begin moving into southern Minnesota within hours this evening, creating wet roads and reduced visibility for the late commute.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, skies will turn increasingly cloudy through the afternoon before scattered showers develop after sunset, mainly impacting southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin between 7 p.m. and midnight. High temperatures today will remain cool, ranging from 40°F to 45°F.
Cities including Mankato, Rochester, and Red Wing will see the highest chances for rain overnight, with showers spreading east toward Eau Claire and western Wisconsin. Major routes such as I-35, I-90, and Highway 52 could become slick during periods of steady rain.
By early Wednesday morning, lingering showers taper off, followed by a noticeable warmup as southerly winds push highs into the mid-50s to mid-60s across the region, including Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Drivers should remain alert for wet pavement tonight and allow extra stopping distance. Conditions improve Wednesday, with drier weather returning before another cooldown arrives later in the week.
