St. Paul, MN – Drivers across eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin are navigating dense fog Thursday morning as the National Weather Service (NWS) issues an advisory for reduced visibility. The fog is expected to lift by late morning, giving way to partly sunny skies and afternoon highs in the mid-70s.
According to the NWS Twin Cities office, the region will see a shift toward warmer conditions heading into the weekend. Friday may bring a chance of morning storms in western Minnesota, with highs reaching between 80 and 85 degrees. By Saturday, sunshine returns and temperatures will rise into the upper 80s across much of the state.
Sunday continues the warm trend, but scattered storms are likely by the afternoon, with a 50% chance of rain across the Twin Cities metro and surrounding counties. Highs will remain near 90 degrees. On Monday, the forecast calls for another round of showers with a 30% chance of rain and highs near the mid-80s.
The NWS is urging caution for Thursday morning commuters as foggy conditions may make travel hazardous. Visibility could be significantly reduced in some areas, particularly along rural highways and low-lying regions.
Residents should also be prepared for a summer-like weekend, with heat and humidity returning before storm chances increase late Sunday.
