MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sunshine and mild temperatures wrap up the week across Minnesota, but a change is on the way as rain and gusty winds arrive by the end of the weekend. The National Weather Service in Twin Cities reports a dry and pleasant Friday before clouds increase Saturday and showers move in from the west by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service, western Minnesota will see the first round of rain late Saturday, spreading east into the Twin Cities by early Sunday. Breezy southwest winds will strengthen through the day, with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph. Temperatures will stay unusually warm for mid-October, topping out near the upper 70s before falling sharply Sunday night.

Road conditions may become slick during heavier bursts of rain, especially on I-94 and I-35 corridors. Sunday’s strong winds could make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles. Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations and plan for limited outdoor activities.

By Monday, drier and cooler air filters in behind the front, bringing back sunshine but noticeably cooler highs in the 50s. Overnight lows early next week could dip near freezing in outlying areas, signaling an early taste of late-fall chill. Homeowners should check heating systems and protect sensitive plants as temperatures fall.
