Minneapolis, Minn. – A warm and unsettled stretch continues in Minnesota, with scattered thunderstorms threatening the Twin Cities late Friday and another round possible into early next week. Temperatures will push into the 90s by Sunday, raising heat and storm concerns across the metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, storms could develop Friday evening with the strongest activity before 9 p.m. A 40 percent chance of showers lingers overnight with lows holding near 66 degrees. Conditions quiet down Saturday with sunshine and highs near 86, but humidity will fuel additional storms Sunday night through Wednesday.

In Minneapolis, drivers may need to watch for slick evening commutes Friday and again during early next week as scattered downpours track across Hennepin and Ramsey counties. Sunday will bring the warmest day, topping out near 91 degrees, before storm chances increase after sunset. The unsettled weather will continue with a 20 to 40 percent chance of thunderstorms each afternoon and evening through Wednesday.

Residents should stay weather-aware, avoid outdoor events during lightning, and prepare for quick downpours on roadways. The National Weather Service notes additional updates may be issued if storms intensify.
