Minneapolis, Minn. – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact the Twin Cities and much of central Minnesota through Friday night, with the strongest storms capable of producing heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Temperatures will hover in the low to mid-80s, and the humidity will keep conditions feeling oppressive through the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, thunderstorm chances increase from 30–50% Thursday to 60–80% on Friday, with the potential for multiple rounds of storms. Residents across Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota counties should stay weather-aware, especially during the evening commute.

Localized flooding could occur in low-lying areas, and outdoor plans may be disrupted across cities like St. Paul, Bloomington, and Eden Prairie. Drivers should watch for reduced visibility and slick roads during downpours. Those planning weekend events should prepare for wet conditions through Friday night but can expect improvement by Saturday.

Humidity will ease slightly this weekend, with dry skies and cooler highs in the upper 70s expected Saturday. The Twin Cities will rebound into the mid-80s by Sunday, with sunshine returning across the region.

Storm risks taper off late Friday, but additional advisories may be issued if new storm clusters develop.
