St. Paul, Minnesota – A slow-moving weather system is set to bring rounds of rain and storms across western Minnesota starting tonight, with the threat lingering through early in the week and a return of summer heat close behind. Drivers along I-94 and communities from Moorhead to Willmar should expect 40% to 60% chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms from Sunday through Monday, while eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin will stay mostly dry.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, rain chances are highest across the west, especially late Sunday into Monday. Patchy fog may develop overnight, particularly in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, as lows drop into the 60s west and 50s east. By Tuesday, the risk of scattered storms expands into central Minnesota, potentially disrupting morning commutes and outdoor plans in St. Cloud and surrounding areas.

Rising temperatures and humidity will grip the state midweek, with highs pushing into the upper 80s and low 90s by Thursday, increasing the risk of more widespread storms. Residents should prepare for changing road conditions, avoid flooded areas, and keep an eye out for updated advisories as heat and storm threats persist.

More alerts are likely as thunderstorm chances increase through Thursday.
