Minneapolis, MN – Residents across Minnesota and western Wisconsin should prepare for multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms through the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service Twin Cities.

The agency reported Wednesday that rainfall totals from today through Friday evening could reach 1 to 1.5 inches in western Minnesota, while eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin may see 0.5 to 1 inch. Forecasters noted that while no single day is expected to be a complete washout, the repeated rain events could affect travel, outdoor activities, and local events.

According to the NWS, storms are likely to arrive in intervals, bringing periods of wet conditions followed by short breaks. The heaviest rainfall is projected to remain in western portions of the state, though all areas in the forecast zone may see measurable rain.

The unsettled weather pattern follows a stretch of drier days and comes as many residents begin fall activities and harvest season preparations. Commuters are advised to allow for extra travel time, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when rain bands are most likely to pass through.

The NWS added that residents should monitor local forecasts for updated timing and potential impacts, especially if storms become heavier than currently expected.
