Minneapolis, Minn. – A cold front sliding through Minnesota on Friday could spark scattered showers and thunderstorms, but residents can expect a refreshing break with cooler, drier air just in time for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, highs will climb into the upper 70s Friday ahead of the front before dipping into the mid-60s and low 70s Saturday and Sunday. Dew points will drop sharply, making for crisp mornings and windows-open afternoons across the metro and much of southern Minnesota.

While Friday storms may cause brief travel delays, the weekend brings clear skies and calm weather. Cities including Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Bloomington will see daytime highs in the 60s to near 70 with lows dipping into the 50s, ideal for outdoor events and late-summer yard work. Northern counties will also enjoy the cooldown, with morning lows in the upper 40s possible.

Residents should prepare for brief wet roads Friday evening but can look forward to a dry stretch that could last into early next week.
