St. Paul, MN – Unseasonably warm weather is on tap for much of Minnesota heading into Friday, but a sharp cold front will bring a dramatic drop in temperatures and widespread rain by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, highs will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s Friday in southern Minnesota, with cooler readings in the north near 50°F. A strong front is expected to move through the state late Friday, triggering rain and scattered thunderstorms before temperatures plunge by nearly 30 degrees.

By Saturday, highs will struggle to reach the mid-40s across most of the state. Widespread rain is forecast throughout the day, with a chance of snow late Saturday night into Sunday, especially in central and northern Minnesota.

Twin Cities metro residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions by Friday evening. Commuters are urged to monitor updates and consider alternate travel plans during potential storm activity. Rainfall could be heavy at times, reducing visibility and impacting road conditions.

Officials recommend dressing in layers and staying weather-aware through the weekend as Minnesota transitions from early spring warmth back to more typical late March conditions. Snow accumulation, if any, is expected to be light but may affect elevated areas.
