St. Paul, MN – Breezy winds and low humidity across Minnesota are increasing fire risks throughout the week. The U.S. National Weather Service in the Twin Cities issued an alert for elevated fire conditions today and Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, the combination of strong winds and dry conditions could lead to wildfires spreading quickly. Winds are expected to reach breezy levels with temperatures hitting 61 degrees today and 69 degrees on Thursday.

Local authorities advise residents to check for burning restrictions and avoid outdoor fires. “Dry air and winds increase the potential for fire,” stated the weather service. This trend is expected to last through Saturday, though conditions may improve slightly by Sunday when temperatures rise to 76 degrees.

Minnesota residents are urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious smoke or signs of fire immediately.
