TULSA, Okla. – Multiple rounds of thunderstorms will move through eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas through Wednesday, bringing heavy rainfall, localized flash flooding, and occasional strong wind gusts. Lightning and brief bursts of hail are also possible as storms track across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the greatest thunderstorm coverage is expected this afternoon and evening, with rain chances gradually tapering by Thursday. A marginal risk for excessive rainfall remains in effect, with most locations likely to see 0.25 to 0.5 inches, though some pockets could receive up to 2 inches, especially in low-lying or urban areas.

Cities including Tulsa, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville could see a 20–30% chance of storms into early Wednesday, while towns like McAlester, Hugo, and Rogers face similar hazards. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and remain alert for changing weather conditions.

The heat index will remain below peak summer levels through midweek but will rebound sharply late in the week, topping 105° in many areas by the weekend.
