Tulsa, Oklahoma – Heavy rain and repeated thunderstorms could quickly lead to localized flooding across eastern Oklahoma by Sunday night, with some areas at risk for several inches of rainfall in a short period.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a marginal risk for excessive rainfall is in place from Friday through Sunday, with multiple rounds of storms expected. Rainfall totals could reach up to 0.5 inches Friday, increase again Saturday, and climb to 1 to 3 inches in isolated areas by Sunday, especially where storms track over the same areas.

Cities including Tulsa, Muskogee, Bartlesville, and McAlester are all within the зоны of concern, along with northwest Arkansas communities like Fayetteville and Fort Smith. Low-lying areas, creeks, and flood-prone areas could see rapid water rises, particularly during heavier downpours.

Severe weather is also a concern. Storms Friday afternoon into early evening may produce wind gusts near 60 mph and hail up to quarter size. By Sunday, the threat increases slightly, with stronger storms capable of larger hail and damaging winds across eastern Oklahoma.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to have multiple ways to receive warnings. The active pattern will continue into early next week, with additional storm chances and potential severe weather through midweek.
