Oklahoma City, OK – Much of Oklahoma and parts of northern Texas are under a Wind Advisory this Monday as strong southerly gusts sweep across the region, the National Weather Service (NWS) reports.

The advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT Monday, covering cities including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Lawton, Enid, Stillwater, and Wichita Falls, TX.

According to the NWS offices in Norman and Tulsa, south to southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected throughout the morning and early afternoon. Forecasters warn the gusts could knock down small tree limbs, blow around unsecured outdoor objects, and cause isolated power outages.

Drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles on north-south highways, should exercise caution as crosswinds could make steering difficult.

The windy conditions come ahead of a passing cold front, which will bring cooler air and calmer winds by Monday evening. Officials advise residents to secure outdoor furniture and trash bins before winds peak late in the morning.
