TULSA, Okla. – Showers and thunderstorms could bring heavy downpours, strong wind gusts, and frequent lightning across northeastern Oklahoma late Sunday night into early Monday morning. While the storms are not expected to reach severe levels, the National Weather Service says the heaviest activity is likely north and east of Tulsa.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, storms developing overnight may deliver locally heavy rainfall, with chances of scattered thunderstorms highest in Bartlesville, Miami, and surrounding counties. Conditions are expected to remain unsettled through Monday as storm coverage expands across the region.

Travelers on U.S. Highway 75 and I-44 should prepare for sudden reductions in visibility due to heavy rain and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Residents are also urged to remain indoors when thunder is heard to reduce lightning risk. Power outages are possible in areas that experience stronger wind gusts.

Storm chances will increase again during the day Monday, with showers and scattered thunderstorms becoming more widespread across eastern Oklahoma. Additional weather statements may be issued if conditions intensify.
