TULSA, Okla. – A sunny stretch across eastern Oklahoma will give way to a stormy weekend as a cold front pushes through the region late Saturday. After two warm days in the upper 80s, strong winds and thunderstorms could bring a brief round of heavy rain and gusty conditions to the Tulsa metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the highest chance for rain and storms arrives late Saturday into early Sunday. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts, especially along and east of I-44 toward Rogers, Muskogee, and Cherokee counties. While widespread severe weather isn’t certain, forecasters urge residents to remain alert for late-day changes and possible advisories.

Friday will stay mostly sunny and breezy with highs near 88 degrees, marking one of the warmest mid-October days this week. Saturday’s warmth will fuel the approaching cold front, increasing thunderstorm potential through the afternoon and evening. Drivers should plan for slower travel during late-day downpours and stay cautious around slick intersections. Outdoor events—especially football games and festivals—should prepare for lightning delays and brief wind bursts.

By Sunday, clearer skies and cooler air return, bringing a true taste of fall. Highs will settle in the lower 70s with breezy north winds, and Monday will stay pleasant and mild under mostly sunny skies.
