TULSA, Okla. – Drivers across eastern Oklahoma and parts of northwest Arkansas could face reduced visibility overnight as patchy fog develops through early Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Tulsa warns conditions may become hazardous between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m., particularly in areas that saw rainfall earlier Tuesday.

According to the NWS, visibility may fall to just a quarter-mile in isolated spots, with most areas ranging between one and three miles. The greatest risk extends through northeast Oklahoma, including Tulsa, Bartlesville, and Muskogee, as well as into northwest Arkansas near Fayetteville and Rogers.

Transportation officials caution drivers to slow down, switch to low-beam headlights, and leave extra distance between vehicles. Even brief stretches of dense fog could impact major highways such as I-44, U.S. 69, and U.S. 75 during the morning commute.

Any fog is expected to lift shortly after sunrise Wednesday, bringing clearer travel conditions by mid-morning. However, drivers heading out before dawn should prepare for sudden drops in visibility.
