Tulsa, OK – Oklahomans could be treated to a rare northern lights display tonight, with the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center forecasting a G3–G4 geomagnetic storm strong enough to make auroras visible across the southern Plains.

According to the US National Weather Service Tulsa, clear and dry skies will persist through Thursday night, offering a strong opportunity for aurora viewing before record warmth takes hold this weekend. Viewing is best between 9 p.m. and midnight, especially away from city lights and toward the northern horizon.

The latest forecast calls for unseasonably warm temperatures through Saturday, with highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s, nearly 20 degrees above average for mid-November. Breezy conditions are also expected, with mild overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. The weekend should stay mostly dry, with rain and thunderstorm chances returning early next week.

If skies stay clear, tonight may offer a rare sight for Oklahoma — the aurora borealis glowing faintly across the northern sky.
