Tulsa, OK – Wind chills could drop into the single digits Monday morning across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, creating hazardous early travel conditions along Interstate 44 and US-75.

According to the US National Weather Service in Tulsa, very chilly temperatures are expected Sunday and Monday mornings, with the coldest readings arriving Monday morning. Overnight lows are forecast to fall between 15 and 30 degrees, with wind chills ranging from 9 to 23 degrees.

Forecasters say the coldest temperatures and lowest wind chills are expected north of Interstate 40, including areas near Bartlesville, Miami, and portions of northwest Arkansas.

Wind chills below 10 degrees are possible in the coldest locations, particularly across far northeast Oklahoma and near the Kansas state line. Even where temperatures remain in the upper teens or low 20s, steady winds will make it feel significantly colder.

Morning commuters along I-44 in Tulsa and US-69 near Muskogee should prepare for bitter conditions at bus stops and while fueling vehicles. Frost and refreeze are possible on untreated surfaces, especially on bridges and overpasses.

While no winter precipitation is expected with this cold snap, prolonged exposure to wind chills below 15 degrees can lead to frostbite on exposed skin.

Students waiting outdoors and early-shift workers should dress in layers, including hats and gloves, and limit time outside when possible.

Temperatures are expected to gradually moderate later Monday, though chilly mornings may continue into early next week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for any additional cold weather advisories.
