Tulsa, Oklahoma – Light rain is expected to develop overnight Monday into Tuesday morning across parts of southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with minimal rainfall amounts forecast.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, rain chances will increase late Monday night into Tuesday morning ahead of an approaching upper-level system and surface cold front. The highest chances are focused across southeast Oklahoma into western Arkansas, where rain probabilities range from 20 to 40 percent.

Forecasters expect rain accumulations to remain light, generally up to one-tenth of an inch or less, limiting flooding or drainage concerns. The National Weather Service notes that wintry precipitation is not expected, as temperatures remain warm enough for all rain.

The primary timing window for showers is between 3 a.m. and noon Tuesday, which could coincide with the morning commute. Drivers traveling along US-75, US-69, US-62, Interstate 40, and Interstate 49 may encounter wet road surfaces, particularly during the early morning hours.

While rainfall amounts are expected to be minor, slick spots are possible on untreated roads, ramps, and bridges during periods of steady showers. Conditions should gradually improve by midday as rain chances diminish from west to east.

No additional hazardous weather was highlighted in the outlook, and impacts are expected to remain limited due to the light nature of the precipitation. Winds and temperatures were not identified as concerns in the update.

Early-shift workers, students, and commuters in southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas may notice the greatest impact due to timing. Allowing extra travel time and remaining alert for changing road conditions is advised during the morning hours.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for any updates to rain coverage or timing as the system approaches.
