Tulsa, Oklahoma – Today is Sunday, and scattered light rain showers continue across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas overnight.
According to the US National Weather Service in Tulsa, activity remains mostly along and ahead of a cold front moving through the region. Showers are expected to persist through approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, particularly across southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
Forecasters say hourly rainfall rates will generally remain light, with totals reaching up to one-quarter inch (0.25 inches) in some locations. Precipitation is moving northeast at speeds up to 20 mph, affecting communities along Interstate 44, U.S. Highway 75 and U.S. Highway 69.
Cities including Tulsa, Muskogee and McAlester may see intermittent showers overnight, while heavier pockets of rain are tracking closer to Fort Smith, Arkansas, along the Interstate 540 corridor.
The primary impact will be wet roadways. Motorists traveling overnight or during early Sunday morning hours should be prepared for slick pavement and reduced visibility in heavier showers.
The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor the latest conditions as the front progresses eastward.
Early-shift workers and overnight freight drivers along I-44 and U.S. 75 may encounter patchy wet stretches before showers taper later this morning.
Additional updates will be issued if rainfall intensity or coverage changes.
