Tulsa, OK – Commuters across northeast Oklahoma are waking up to patchy fog and a chance of isolated thunderstorms Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tulsa.
The agency reports localized fog through 9 a.m., especially over lakes and valleys in eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, reducing visibility to below one mile in some areas. Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles during the morning commute.
According to the NWS, a few isolated showers or storms could develop this morning near the Oklahoma–Kansas border, with about a 10–20% chance of activity. Another brief round of storms may form this afternoon in the higher terrain of northwest Arkansas, bringing cloud-to-ground lightning and brief heavy downpours.
No severe weather is expected, but forecasters caution residents to stay alert for changing conditions and to monitor official updates throughout the day.
Temperatures are expected to remain mild, with mostly cloudy skies persisting into the evening as the weak disturbance moves east.
Residents are encouraged to remain indoors during lightning and thunder and to keep updated through weather.gov/Tulsa for the latest advisories.
