Tulsa, OK – The National Weather Service in Tulsa is warning drivers across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas to prepare for dense fog and freezing fog late Friday night into Saturday morning, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions.

Forecasters say visibility could drop below half a mile in many locations after midnight, especially in areas highlighted in orange and yellow on the latest forecast map. The highest risk zone for freezing fog lies north of Interstate 40, where temperatures are expected to dip below 32°F.

This combination of low visibility and icy conditions could lead to slick spots on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads during the early morning commute. Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles.

The fog is expected to gradually lift by mid-morning Saturday as temperatures rise above freezing, though some areas may remain damp and slippery through late morning.

The NWS advises delaying early travel if possible and monitoring updated forecasts overnight for any advisories.
