Tulsa, OK – The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of eastern Oklahoma, in effect from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
The advisory covers Tulsa, Muskogee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Creek, Okfuskee, and McIntosh Counties, including the Tulsa metro area. A wintry mix of snow and sleet is expected overnight and into Thursday morning, with up to one inch of total accumulation possible.
Forecasters warn that slick roads, bridges, and sidewalks could develop before sunrise, making the Thursday morning commute potentially hazardous. Light snow and sleet may persist through midday before tapering off.
Residents are urged to allow extra travel time, slow down, and use caution when driving on untreated or elevated surfaces. The NWS also advises taking care when walking on icy sidewalks and driveways to avoid slips and injuries.
