Tulsa, OK – The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Freeze Watch for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, in effect from Sunday evening through Monday morning. Forecasters expect the first widespread hard freeze of the season, with temperatures dropping to near 20°F in colder valleys.

The advisory includes Tulsa, Muskogee, Fort Smith, McAlester, Fayetteville, and Bentonville, along with surrounding communities across northeast, east-central, and southeast Oklahoma, and northwest and west-central Arkansas.

According to meteorologists, frost and freezing temperatures could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation while also posing a risk to unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, wrap exposed pipes, and allow faucets to drip overnight.

This cold snap will likely mark the end of the growing season for much of the region. Calm winds and clear skies Sunday night will create ideal conditions for a sharp temperature drop by daybreak Monday.

Slight warming is expected midweek, but overnight lows will remain near or below freezing in many areas.
