Tulsa, OK – A widespread Freeze Watch is in effect from late tonight through Sunday morning across most of Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, as a surge of cold, dry air brings the region’s first true taste of November. The National Weather Service offices in Norman and Tulsa warn that temperatures could dip as low as 28°F to 30°F, ending the growing season for much of the state.

The watch includes major cities such as Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Stillwater, Muskogee, McAlester, and Fayetteville, along with communities along I-35, I-40, and I-44. Clear skies and light winds will allow for rapid cooling after midnight, with widespread frost and subfreezing conditions expected by sunrise Sunday.

Residents are urged to bring in or cover plants, disconnect garden hoses, and insulate outdoor faucets. Farmers and gardeners should prepare for freeze damage to late-season crops. Drivers heading out early Sunday may notice frosted windshields and icy patches on rural bridges.

The cold start will be brief — by late morning, sunshine will lift temperatures into the upper 50s and low 60s, bringing a crisp but comfortable fall afternoon. Warmer weather returns Monday and Tuesday, before another weak cold front arrives midweek.

After a mild October, this weekend’s chill marks a clear seasonal shift. From Tulsa’s hills to the Oklahoma plains, winter’s edge is finally making itself known.
