Tulsa, OK – Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to impact portions of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, with forecasters cautioning that gusty winds and lightning will be the main hazards.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, storm chances range from 20 to 60 percent, with activity expected to increase after sunrise. The strongest storms could produce locally heavy rainfall and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, especially near and east of Interstate 40.

Meteorologists note that storms may form or intensify along outflow boundaries left behind from earlier systems. Brief heavy downpours could affect travel, and forecasters advise residents to monitor conditions closely throughout the late morning.

Hazards include gusty winds, lightning strikes, and localized flooding in low-lying areas. The weather service urges residents to remain indoors during thunderstorms and avoid flooded roadways. An additional risk of damaging wind or hail may develop if daytime heating enhances storm strength.

The unsettled pattern is expected to persist, with periodic thunderstorm chances continuing into the weekend across Oklahoma and Arkansas.
