Tulsa, OK – A strong cold front will sweep through eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas late Wednesday, bringing the potential for freezing drizzle and slick travel conditions overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.

Forecasters say drizzle may begin after sunset as temperatures drop behind the front, transitioning to freezing drizzle overnight and into early Thursday morning. Areas most at risk include Tulsa, Muskogee, McAlester, Fayetteville, and Fort Smith, where light ice accumulation could occur—mainly on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

While only light icing is expected, the NWS warns that even a thin glaze can make roads dangerously slick. Freezing drizzle may affect the Thursday morning commute, reducing traction and increasing the risk of accidents.

Temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing by midnight, with lows ranging from the upper 20s to lower 30s. Drivers are urged to slow down, avoid cruise control, and allow extra distance between vehicles.
