Woodlake, CA – A wanted felon was captured Monday afternoon after a vehicle pursuit and search involving multiple law enforcement agencies in Tulare County, according to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Mario Ibarra Lemus, allegedly led Woodlake Police officers on a chase that ended when his vehicle crashed in an orchard. Authorities say Lemus then fled on foot, prompting an extensive ground and air search.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Air-1, a Kings County helicopter unit, responded to assist. Within five minutes of arrival, the air crew reportedly located Lemus hiding in a tree inside the orchard. Officers on the ground ordered Lemus to surrender, but he allegedly refused. A police K-9 was deployed, and Lemus was safely taken into custody.

Lemus received treatment for his injuries before being booked into the Tulare County Jail. Deputies said he was also wanted in connection with several other vehicle pursuits across Tulare County in recent weeks.

Authorities have not released additional details about those prior incidents.
