Tug Boat crew member found dead Tuesday morning

CHANNAHON – A missing crew member lost Monday night was found dead Tuesday morning.

According to the United States Coast Guard, the crew member was found on the south shoreline of the Des Plaines River near mile marker 276 by search crews.  The search for the man began at again at 6 a.m. this morning.

The name of the crew member and cause of death has yet to be released. 

An investigation into the man’s death will be conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office.

Channahon Police Department assistant in the search providing drones to search the area.  Other agencies assisting in the search included Rescue crews from Minooka, Coal Ciry, Morris, and Wilmington.
