Tuesday Storms Drop 2 Inches of Rain Across Quad Cities Region

Quad Cities, IL – Heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms on Tuesday evening resulted in significant flooding across the Quad Cities area. Rainfall measurements between 1 and 2 inches were common, with some locations experiencing more than 2 inches, causing disruptions and hazardous conditions.

According to the US National Weather Service, the highest recorded rainfall was 2.82 inches in Asbury, IA. Other significant totals included 2.60 inches in Centerville, IA, and 2.35 inches in Columbus Junction, IA. In Illinois, La Harpe recorded 2.60 inches, while Macomb received 2.30 inches. These heavy rains led to localized flooding, affecting roads and low-lying areas.

The NWS advises residents to remain cautious in flood-prone areas and monitor weather updates. Floodwaters can pose serious risks, including road closures and property damage. The public is urged to avoid driving through flooded roads and to seek higher ground if necessary.
