Newport, NC – Rainfall will dominate Monday across parts of eastern North Carolina, including the areas along NC-24, before giving way to clearer skies by Tuesday. Expect light to moderate rain today, with totals reaching up to 0.25 inches in most areas. Drivers are urged to use caution as wet roads could create slippery conditions, particularly during the morning and evening commutes.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain will occur south of NC-264, with precipitation chances tapering off by tonight. Winds will remain light at 6 to 8 mph, and temperatures will reach a high of 50 degrees today. Overnight, skies will remain mostly cloudy with a low around 40 degrees.
Tuesday will bring a welcome change with partly sunny skies, a high of 57 degrees, and only light winds. By Wednesday, expect even clearer skies and highs reaching the low 50s. Rain chances return later in the week, with temperatures climbing to 66 degrees on Friday.
Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy today and enjoy the sunny conditions expected midweek. Stay informed by checking local forecasts regularly for updates on changing weather conditions.
