Tucson, AZ – A Freeze Watch is in effect for parts of southeast Arizona Tuesday morning, as forecasters warn of sub-freezing temperatures across the Sulphur Springs Valley and nearby communities.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, there is a moderate 30–60% chance of freezing temperatures Tuesday morning in Willcox, Benson, Saint David, and surrounding areas. Lows are expected to fall below 32°F, raising concerns for sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing.

The NWS cautions residents in low-lying and rural areas to take protective measures, including covering plants, wrapping exposed pipes, and ensuring outdoor pets have warm shelter. Even brief periods of freezing temperatures can damage crops and irrigation systems in agricultural zones.

While Tucson itself is expected to remain above freezing, nearby valleys and outlying communities could see frost development before sunrise. Conditions are forecast to improve by late morning as sunshine returns and temperatures rise into the upper 50s and low 60s.

Officials remind residents to stay updated through local forecasts in case the Freeze Watch is upgraded to a Freeze Warning overnight.
