Tucson, Arizona – Extreme heat will grip southern Arizona through Friday evening, with temperatures forecast to climb as high as 116°F in parts of Pima and Pinal counties, posing a serious risk of heat-related illnesses.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, covering areas including Tucson, Marana, Nogales, Oracle, and Sierra Vista. Highs will range from 103°F to 113°F across most locations, with peak intensity expected Wednesday and Thursday.
Cities such as Green Valley, Ajo, and the Tucson metro are expected to remain under relentless sun and dangerously dry air. Even overnight lows will stay warm, offering little relief for residents without access to cooling. Officials urge people to avoid strenuous activity during midday hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
OSHA recommends outdoor workers take frequent shaded breaks, while pet owners are reminded never to leave animals in parked cars, where temperatures can become deadly in minutes.
The heat will persist through late week, with only a slight chance for relief in the form of isolated thunderstorms by Wednesday night. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
