TUCSON, Ariz. – Tucson remains under an Extreme Heat Warning through 8 p.m. Friday, with temperatures expected to push past 105 degrees before a slight chance of thunderstorms arrives late in the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, Friday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs near 105°F and calm winds shifting north by afternoon. The heat index will make it feel even hotter, keeping vulnerable populations at risk for heat-related illness.

Storm chances increase slightly Friday night into Saturday, though rain is expected to remain spotty. Saturday could climb even higher, topping out near 106°F before a gradual cooldown begins late in the weekend. By Tuesday, highs are projected to fall into the upper 90s, with daily storm chances continuing.

Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and never leave children or pets inside vehicles. Emergency cooling centers remain available across Pima County.
