Tucson, Arizona – Temperatures across southeast Arizona are running well above normal today as a warm and breezy pattern settles over the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, afternoon highs are expected to reach 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal averages, with many lower-elevation locations climbing into the upper 70s and lower 80s. Tucson is forecast to reach the upper 70s, while warmer spots west and south of the metro area approach the low 80s.

Increasing high clouds are expected through the afternoon, but dry conditions will prevail. Winds will be from the east to southeast at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts between 20 and 25 mph across the lower elevations. Stronger gusts of up to 30 mph are possible in the mountains, particularly during the morning hours.

The breezy conditions may be noticeable along major travel corridors including Interstate 10, Interstate 19, and State Route 77, especially in open desert areas and near mountain passes. While no travel restrictions are expected, drivers of high-profile vehicles may experience occasional crosswinds.

The National Weather Service notes that the warmth is part of a broader pattern affecting much of southern Arizona. Despite the mild feel, officials caution that dry air and gusty winds can still lead to rapid changes in conditions, particularly for outdoor recreation in higher terrain.

No weather hazards are currently in effect, but residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and secure loose outdoor items that could be affected by gusty winds. Fire danger remains seasonally low, though warm temperatures may increase outdoor activity.

The pleasant warmth may be especially noticeable for commuters, students, and outdoor workers across the Tucson metro area, offering a spring-like feel for early February.
