Creede, CO – A Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday morning, October 14, for portions of south-central Colorado, including the Upper Rio Grande Valley and eastern San Juan Mountains, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.
Forecasters warn that another surge of tropical moisture will bring 1 to 3 inches of additional rainfall to the region, increasing the risk of flooding on already saturated soils. The heaviest rainfall is expected near Wolf Creek Pass, Cumbres Pass, Creede, and South Fork beginning early Monday and lasting into Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service cautions that excessive runoff could cause flooding of creeks, streams, and low-lying areas, and drivers should be alert for water over roadways and mudslides in steep terrain.
Residents and travelers are urged to monitor local forecasts, avoid flooded areas, and be ready to take action if Flood Warnings are issued.
