Raleigh, NC – An Arctic cold front will sweep across Central North Carolina Monday night, bringing gusty winds up to 30 mph and the coldest air of the season so far, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

Forecasters expect temperatures to fall into the mid-20s to around 30°F by early Tuesday, with wind chills dipping into the upper teens in some areas. Strong northwest winds will make the evening feel much colder, particularly in open and elevated locations.

A brief burst of rain or light snow flurries may occur north of US-64 between late evening and early overnight hours, though any accumulation is expected to be minimal and confined to grassy or elevated surfaces.

Drivers and residents should prepare for sharply colder conditions overnight, as frost and freezing temperatures are expected to continue into early Tuesday morning before a gradual warm-up midweek.
