New York, NY – Cloudy skies will give way to sun across the Tri-State area Sunday, but a few isolated storms could impact parts of New Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, July 13 will begin with overcast skies and morning lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. By midday, skies should transition to partly sunny, with afternoon highs reaching into the low to mid-80s. Most areas will stay dry, though a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible from northern New Jersey into southern New York.

Residents in Rockland, Bergen, and Westchester counties should stay weather-aware, especially between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., when isolated storms could produce brief downpours and lightning. Winds will be light from the southeast, offering minimal relief from the humidity.

NYC’s high is expected to reach 85°, just shy of the city’s July 13 record of 101° set in 1966. Those with outdoor plans should hydrate and seek shade during peak heat hours.

The next update from NWS New York is expected early Monday. Storm chances remain low but could increase midweek with a potential frontal system.
