Evansville, Indiana – Rain will expand quickly across the Tri-State overnight, with widespread showers arriving after midnight and intensifying in time for the Friday morning commute, bringing slick roads and reduced visibility across key highways.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, scattered showers may begin late tonight, but coverage increases significantly late Thursday night into early Friday. Rain chances climb to 70–85% between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday in cities including Evansville, Henderson, Owensboro, and Paducah, marking the most impactful window.
Major routes such as I-69, I-24, and the Lloyd Expressway could see ponding water and slower travel speeds during the early commute. While a few thunderstorms are possible overnight, severe weather is not expected, limiting the risk to heavy rain bursts and occasional lightning.
Communities across southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southwest Indiana—including Carbondale, Marion, and Madisonville—will see consistent rainfall through midday Friday before coverage tapers by afternoon.
Drivers should allow extra travel time Friday morning, use headlights in low visibility, and avoid areas where water collects on roadways. Charging devices and planning indoor alternatives is recommended as periods of steady rain move through.
Rain begins to taper later Friday, but additional updates may be issued if storm coverage increases overnight.
