Pittsburgh, Pa. – Residents across the Ohio Valley are facing dangerous heat conditions through Friday evening, with heat index values nearing 100°F and little relief expected overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday for parts of eastern Ohio, southwestern Pennsylvania, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. Daytime temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s, combined with high humidity, will push “feels like” temperatures near triple digits, particularly between noon and 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Cities under the advisory include New Philadelphia, Steubenville, Wheeling, Morgantown, Zanesville, and Kittanning. Overnight lows above 70°F will offer little relief, increasing the risk of cumulative heat stress, especially for vulnerable groups such as seniors and young children.

Short bursts of afternoon storms could cool isolated areas, but widespread heat risks persist. Health officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors, especially those without air conditioning. Lightweight clothing and early morning or evening activity are recommended.

Cooling centers may be available in affected counties; local emergency managers advise checking municipal websites for updates.

⚠️ Heat advisories may be extended if conditions persist. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service or local media for further updates.
