New York, NY – A Frost Advisory remains in effect from 11 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as clear skies and calm winds are expected to send temperatures near the freezing mark overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in New York City, readings could drop as low as 33°F, leading to frost formation across Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, Northern Middlesex, and Northern New London Counties in Connecticut; Western Passaic County in New Jersey; and Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Northern Westchester Counties in New York.

Residents in areas including Danbury, Middletown, Newburgh, Carmel, and Suffern are advised to cover or bring in outdoor plants to avoid frost damage. Sensitive flowers, herbs, and late-season crops could be killed if left exposed overnight.

The frost potential signals a turning point in fall weather for the lower Hudson Valley and southern New England. Daytime highs are expected to rebound into the 50s and 60s this weekend, but additional frost advisories may return early next week.
