Trenton, NY – A 61-year-old man was arrested for felony DWI in Trenton after deputies found him unconscious.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies responded around 2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, to a report of a motor vehicle stopped in the middle of State Street in the Town of Trenton.

Authorities said the driver was reportedly unconscious in the driver’s seat when deputies arrived. Following an investigation, the operator was arrested by a deputy assigned to the STOP-DWI Unit.

The driver, identified as Michael D. Stanczyk, 61, of Cold Brook, was charged with one count of Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law (1192), a Class E felony, along with additional traffic violations. Officials allege Stanczyk was operating the vehicle while intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Stanczyk was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing. He was later held at the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.

State Street remained accessible following the investigation, though a vehicle stopped in the roadway at that hour could pose potential hazards for overnight drivers and early-morning commuters.

The case remains pending in court. All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
