Boise, ID – A Freeze Watch is in effect for parts of southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon from late Monday night through Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Boise.

Forecasters warn that sub-freezing temperatures are likely across much of the Snake River Valley, with lows dropping to around 30°F in several rural areas. Cities under the watch include Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, Twin Falls, Nyssa, and Ontario.

While temperatures in Boise and along the foothills may remain slightly warmer — near 35°F — due to southeasterly winds, most valley locations are expected to experience frost and freeze conditions that could damage outdoor vegetation and crops.

The NWS recommends residents cover sensitive plants, bring potted flowers indoors, and drain sprinkler systems before temperatures fall overnight.

Clear skies and calm winds are expected to enhance cooling through early Tuesday morning before sunshine returns and temperatures rebound later in the day.
