Gaylord, Michigan – A stretch of warm, humid weather is setting up across Northern Michigan this week, with scattered thunderstorms likely to develop by Tuesday and persist into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, skies will clear this afternoon after morning showers, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s. Monday will remain mostly dry, but a slight chance of rain lingers during the day as highs push into the low 80s.

By Tuesday, a moist and unstable air mass will move into the region, bringing a higher risk for thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Locations from Traverse City to Alpena could see localized downpours and gusty winds. Wednesday brings the best chance for widespread storms, with highs ranging from 74–80°F and potential for travel disruptions.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, monitor weather alerts, and plan for sudden changes in conditions. Power outages and brief flooding in low-lying areas can’t be ruled out.

Storm chances remain in place through Thursday, with temperatures holding in the low 70s by the end of the week. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as systems develop.
