FORT WAYNE, IN – Northern Indiana is bracing for bitter cold and multiple rounds of snow through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana.
Forecasters say two systems will move through the region — one tonight and another Saturday — with the best chances for 1–2 inches of snow expected south of U.S. 30, including areas near Marion, Warsaw, and Wabash.
Additional lake-effect snow is possible Friday night through Sunday morning, particularly in southwest Lower Michigan and northwest Indiana, where localized totals could exceed 2 inches.
According to the National Weather Service, extreme cold will accompany the snow, with wind chills dropping to between -23°F and -10°F by early Saturday and again Sunday night. Daytime highs will struggle to rise above the low 20s through the weekend, with lows dipping below zero in some areas.
Residents are urged to bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and use caution on icy or snow-covered roads, especially overnight and early morning. Frostbite can occur in under 30 minutes in these temperatures.
